APPLICATIONS |

Printing Ink
In Printing Ink, EXPANCEL® Microspheres produces three
dimensional patterns on paper and textiles, e.g. on
wallpaper, business cards, T-shirts and curtains. The
Three-dimensional effect is obtained by heating the
ink to a temperature high enough to expand the Microspheres.
Screen printing and gravure printing are examples of
suitable techniques when applying expandable printing
inks. In general, existing printing and drying equipment
may be used without any change.

Paper and Board
In Paper and Board, Microspheres are used to improve
bulk, which has a positive influence on the stiffness
of Paper and Board. It also enables considerable savings
of costly chemical fibers.

Non -woven
Non-woven mats with EXPANCEL® offer an extremely light
construction material. A high stiffness because of the
increase in thickness is achieved.

Polyurethane
EXPANCEL® can be used in certain resinous materials,
such as polyurethane. The exothermic makes the Microspheres
expand. A commercial application is soles of polyurethane
used for jogging and leisure shoes, where low weight
and elasticity are desirable properties.

PVC-Plastisols
PVC-plastisols foamed with EXPANCEL® create a lot
of interest in applications where the use of chemical
blowing agent would be inappropriate. The advantages
of EXPANCEL® in such materials are small sized voids
and controlled void structure.
